Model Horse Round Up

Too much going on here right now...yikes!  I just completed three new articles for About.com on model horses, and I'll post links soon. I'm working on two article series this fall - first, interviews and photo essays with various model horse artists. I think you will really enjoy the tips and beautiful photos they are sharing! Anne Field will share her dolls and doll making tips with you. Anne's work was part of the 2010 WEG display commissioned by Breyer at the Kentucky Horse Park, and her dolls are just stunning.  I can't even begin to imagine the amount of hours she puts into each one. They are truly unique creations and she has some great tips for readers too.  Next up is Mindy Berg. I met Mindy at Breyerfest in 2008 and hit it off with her immediately.  Her painting is beautiful, and I'm interviewing Mindy about her work and model horse activities, then will feature her painted pieces in an accompanying essay. Last up will be Karen Dietrich, showing you restoration work on a Breyer.  Hopefully all of these lovely gals will be available to finish the interviews!  Anne's will be ready this week, depending on when my editor approves the last one, and Mindy's will follow quickly behind that one.

I am also working on a series of articles about Breyer's Thoroughbred model horses, starting with everyone's favorite giant - Zenyatta.  Breyer's marketing and communications team has been very helpful and provided me with some photos and information. Kollean Gouyton also graciously shared more photos of her 5,000+ model horse collection too.  Those articles should be finished by the end of September.

I raided my local Dollar Tree this weekend and came home with some Christmas collectible accessories, those little mini trees and such that they sell with model houses. They aren't in scale with our own light up village set that we put up every year but I saw at once that they were in scale with my micro minis and Stablemates. I hope to have a new winter scene to share with everyone soon.

I've been busy fumbling my way through tack making projects, getting glue everywhere and cursing my obsession with the miniature equines. I should just try making full size tack and be done with it - it would probably be easier. Since my tack making projects always look like a kindergartener made them, when I do finally share my step by step instructions (which WORK if you have TALENT unlike me :(  ) I'll probably borrow someone else's pictures, with their permission of course, to go with them.

Over at EquinArt Creations, my model horse company, I've got some great new horse models for you, lots of your old favorites, and oh did I mention a SALE? Yes, sale! Selected items are on sale. It's like a treasure hunt. Go and look for the picture of balloons...that means something is on sale.  Enjoy!

Keep an eye out for links to the new articles here on this blog as well as on my Facebook pages.  Be sure to bookmark About.com and watch for them too.

Happy collecting!
